Two Years Biking and a New Bike

I’ve been regularly biking for about 2 years. It’s one of the biggest behavioral changes I’ve made that consistently contributes to my goals of financial independence and fitness. I am happy to say that using a RideKick combined with a really inexpensive Craigslist bike, I was confident enough to get out there on the road, and actually replace car miles with cycling miles. Unfortunately, I haven’t yet reached my goal

And then the good times and my biking euphoria were cut short this week by a harsh reality… I experienced two flat tires in a row. A tiny sliver of glass had worked it’s way

Review: RideKick Power Bike Trailer

When I decided to start biking regularly for transportation, I realized the location of my house is not ideal for a beginning commuter. I am 14 miles from work, and I am 6.5 miles from the closest shopping area with a good grocery store and gym. I tested the waters, biking the 6.5 miles to the gym a few times with an old mountain bike, before upgrading to my $25 Craigslist road bike…

Move Closer to Work? Commute Cost Savings & Rental Income Potential

Even though I just refinanced my house and I am pretty comfortable where I’m at, I have thought a lot about moving closer to where I work, effectively moving me into “town.” I’d be closer to libraries, grocery stores, and other amenities that I am currently not close enough to bike to every day. It is easy to list the many practical upsides of this hypothetical scenario, including how awesome
